This summer we have been to Bavaria. It is a very interesting region of Germany. There we visited the Königssee, a wonderful crystal-clear alpine lake. This lake is famous for being one of Germany’s deepest and cleanest lakes. The water is so clear that you can see a fair way into it. The lake was created by glacier activity. It is about 8 km long, 1 km wide and almost 200 m deep. During its history, Konigsee has been beloved by Bavarian royalty as well as Adolf Hitler. Today, Lake Konigsee still gets lots of visitors and tourists. Only electric row boats are allowed on the lake.
